Jess and Dan’s Vintage and Rustic Marquee Wedding in Ramsey

Vintage Marquee Wedding © Liz Greenhalgh Photography_0097What does rustic mean to you? For me it is all about the countryside, working the land, a bit of nostalgia, hand tools, craftsmen and farming. A rustic wedding would balance these harder elements with soft lace and an abundance of natural blooms. So with all that in mind, I don’t think you could actually get much more ‘rustic’ than this marquee wedding from Liz Greenhalgh Photography.

Vintage Marquee Wedding © Liz Greenhalgh Photography_0024I loved reading about Jess and Dan’s wedding from the point of view of their photographer, Liz Greenhalgh. I will celebrate my third wedding anniversary later this year so I know how much it would mean to a bride to hear such words of enthusiasm from her photographer. It is wonderful to be able to tangibly feel Liz’s appreciation for all the individual and unique touches, despite having been to so many weddings during her photography career!

I was initially mistaken in thinking this wedding had taken place at Ramsey Rural Museum after seeing the photo above. However, Liz has since informed me that the marquee and afternoon reception were held in Jess’ parent’s garden. The old cart that features is on loan from Ramsey Rural Museum since Dan’s parent’s had it at their wedding – what an amazing story and so wonderfully poignant!

And what a great way to encourage your guests to let their hair down!

We love Jess’s beautiful David Tutera gown from Shades of White in St Ives. This also struck photographer Liz who described the dress, which was “a delicate blush colour with an amazing detachable train”.

Vintage Marquee Wedding © Liz Greenhalgh Photography_0085Every wedding has to have a funny anecdote and we loved this one from Liz: “I had looked forward to shooting this wedding for a long time and I loved every minute of it.  Well, apart from a few minutes when photographing the group shot.  To get that shot I was positioned in the bucket of a cherry picker and lifted up, up and over a barn.  I don’t like heights at the best of times but it certainly was worth the shrieks from me to get that shot.”

Vintage Marquee Wedding © Liz Greenhalgh Photography_0091Well done Liz on capturing such a beautiful day filled to the brim with gorgeous details. We can’t wait to see more of Liz’s work on the blog as she plans her own vow renewal. Many thanks to Jess and Dan for allowing us to share your images.
