I always tend to lay out the photos before I look at the responses to the questionnaires for our real weddings. I want to choose the best photos which will capture your imagination as readers. Sometimes this backfires because I read the submissions and think ‘oh, I really didn’t get that from the photos!’ and have to re-jig things a bit to sit with the text.

However, with Beth and Scott’s wedding at their favourite pub, The Willow Tree, I got ‘it’. Beth described their wedding style as ‘super relaxed’ and photographer Annie Lovett concurred: “It was a beautifully relaxed, people/family-focussed day. What does rustic mean to you? For me it is all about the countryside, working the land, a bit of nostalgia, hand tools, craftsmen and farming. A rustic wedding would balance these harder elements with soft lace and an abundance of natural blooms. Today’s absolutely beautiful country-vintage-inspired wedding was submitted by Cambridgeshire florist, Katie, who we interviewed on the blog last week. Katie and her business partner Lisa provided the flowers and cake for this wonderful relaxed celebration and the Bride’s dress also came from Cambridgeshire bridal shop Shades of White. We’ve all got to start somewhere so I am delighted and privileged to be able to bring you such a beautiful set of images as my first ever blog post. I came across Vicky and Jarrod’s wedding on the blog of their wonderful photographer Annie Lovett. I was delighted to meet Annie in the run up to launching the blog today and she has offered me so much support over the last few weeks that it really is right that she should be honoured by our first blog post.

Vicky and Jarrod married in August 2014 at Girton College, Cambridge. Vicky told us: “Since Jarrod was studying at Cambridge University we decided that a wedding in a college would be perfect – we also thought it would be great for all of the family and friends coming from overseas. The red bricks of Girton College were an immediate attraction and the staff there made us feel very confident that they would look after us on the day!”
