Beth and Scott’s Relaxed Family Wedding at The Willow Tree

newnham-college-willow-tree-bourn-cambridge-wedding-photographer-129I always tend to lay out the photos before I look at the responses to the questionnaires for our real weddings. I want to choose the best photos which will capture your imagination as readers. Sometimes this backfires because I read the submissions and think ‘oh, I really didn’t get that from the photos!’ and have to re-jig things a bit to sit with the text.

However, with Beth and Scott’s wedding at their favourite pub, The Willow Tree, I got ‘it’. Beth described their wedding style as ‘super relaxed’ and photographer Annie Lovett concurred: “It was a beautifully relaxed, people/family-focussed day. I have yet to see another bride who beamed as much as Bethan did all day long! It really was about the two of them, and their two families genuinely coming together.” Continue reading

Jess and Dan’s Vintage and Rustic Marquee Wedding in Ramsey

Vintage Marquee Wedding © Liz Greenhalgh Photography_0097What does rustic mean to you? For me it is all about the countryside, working the land, a bit of nostalgia, hand tools, craftsmen and farming. A rustic wedding would balance these harder elements with soft lace and an abundance of natural blooms. So with all that in mind, I don’t think you could actually get much more ‘rustic’ than this marquee wedding from Liz Greenhalgh Photography.

Kelly and Mike’s Romantic Barn Wedding at Childerley

Kelly and Mike - Childerley Long Barn - HannahDuffy142We have the most beautiful and romantic wedding to share with you today from photographer Hannah Duffy of Wedding Belles. Bride Kelly described her style as “quite rustic and laid back”. They married at Waterbeach St Johns Church and followed the service with a reception at Childerley Long Barn. “We didn’t want anything too formal. We wanted guests to feel comfortable, for children to be able to be themselves rather than having to be on best behaviour. Our venue offered us that and we felt so comfortable there. It was perfect.” Well, that sounds pretty perfect to me too!

Kelly and Mike - Childerley Long Barn - HannahDuffy107Kelly’s bridesmaids were three of her closest girls: “My beautiful cousin Amy, home friend Holly and my Maid of Honour [was] University friend Emilia. They were amazing and supported me in picking dresses, making invites, decorating the venue and threw me a brilliant hen do. My MOH also did a brilliant speech at the wedding.” Continue reading

Ross and Lisa’s Afternoon Tea Wedding on a Crocodile Farm

Ross and Lisa - Crocodile Farm Wedding - David Glover Photography11Today’s wedding, photographed by David Glover Photography, has the feel of an old-fashioned English village fete; marrying the bride’s love of vintage with the couple’s desire to have a relaxed, child friendly day.  Lisa and Ross got married in a Yurt on a farm in rural Cambridgeshire, surrounded by their children and all their loved ones.

Ross and Lisa - Crocodile Farm Wedding - David Glover Photography35We asked Lisa how she met her lovely husband, and how he popped the important question: “We had mutual friends, and had known of each other for Continue reading

Jarrod and Vicky’s Laughter-filled Cambridge College Wedding

Jarrod and Vicky - Girton College Cambridge - Annie Lovett Photography 90We’ve all got to start somewhere so I am delighted and privileged to be able to bring you such a beautiful set of images as my first ever blog post. I came across Vicky and Jarrod’s wedding on the blog of their wonderful photographer Annie Lovett. I was delighted to meet Annie in the run up to launching the blog today and she has offered me so much support over the last few weeks that it really is right that she should be honoured by our first blog post.

Jarrod and Vicky - Girton College Cambridge - Annie Lovett Photography 98Vicky and Jarrod married in August 2014 at Girton College, Cambridge. Vicky told us: “Since Jarrod was studying at Cambridge University we decided that a wedding in a college would be perfect – we also thought it would be great for all of the family and friends coming from overseas. The red bricks of Girton College were an immediate attraction and the staff there made us feel very confident that they would look after us on the day!”
