Today our resident florist, Katie Humphrey, from Buns and Roses Weddings and Events takes us through a selection of beautiful blooms suitable for a wedding in Spring.  With many thanks to Rebecca Wedding Photography for providing all of the beautiful photos from some of her previous weddings. Ah Spring Weddings!  A chance to shrug off the gloomy chill of winter and dance into the sunshine with a fresh colour palette to celebrate the beauty of the season.  For us, it conjures up images of full blooms, romantic, soft petals and pops of bright colours.  Oh we do love!!  Here are our favourite spring flowers that are simply perfect for a wedding this time of year!

The Peony

Available from late spring to early summer, and almost a good enough reason to get married in the spring!  These beautiful, blousy flowers have become extremely popular for weddings, especially in pink and white.  They are large, dramatic and make quite an impact.  It’s hard to believe they were once called the ‘poor man’s rose’!

The Tulip

Tulips remain a hugely popular wedding flower and are available early spring.  Tulips come in a huge variety of colours, making them easy to fit into themes.  They look great arranged on their own or within a mixed bouquet, plus they are an inexpensive flower.  Tulips come in various shapes, but our favourite is the Parrot Tulip, with it’s upright, frilly edge petals, so so pretty!!!

The Anemone

Anemones are a delicate, beautiful flower with a dark blue-purple centre.  They can add a touch of drama to your bouquet, and the dark centre ties even the palest of flowers with darker bridesmaid dresses in a subtle way.  Anemones come in a very large range of pastel and bright colours, making them a perfect choice for a spring wedding!

Ranunculus

This delicate flower is both beautiful and versatile.  It is available through to early May and comes in almost every colour you can imagine, making it perfect for spring weddings of any theme!  The paper-thin petals cascade out in ruffles in the most feminine way, lending this flower to the ever-popular vintage trend.

Narcissus

Narcissus, also known as Daffodil, is a beautiful and inexpensive springtime flower that is so versatile; perfect for a spring wedding.  Daffodils are most commonly found in yellow and white, and can be used in a combination on their own or with other flowers.  They are an obvious choice for an informal, rustic wedding.  However, combined with roses and orchids, they make a stunning more formal bouquet.
