So many people have pulled together to make the first month on Bicycle Made for Two a success. We’ve featured seven real Weddings from Cambridgeshire Suppliers and I’ve invited Katie Humphrey from Buns and Roses Weddings and Events to help me celebrate by writing our first monthly blog round-up. We’re concentrating on the beautiful flowers carried by our real brides so far. Katie identifies the blooms so you can recreate these bridal styles.
A colourful and playful bouquet for a colourful and playful wedding
Jarrod and Vicky‘s laughter-filled wedding day was punctuated by the bright and bold colours in Vicky’s bridal bouquet. The different textures and sizes of the flowers that Vicky chose make for a fun combination and the bare stems lend a simple rustic vibe. The large cream roses make a great background on which the other flowers can really pop.

To achieve this look Katie recommends:
Cream, lilac and red roses
Thistles
Eucalyptus
Red Scabiosa
Scabiosa pods
Red Astilbe
Lavender
A bundle of pure white blooms for an elegant monochrome wedding
Laura and James‘ chose a simple black and white palette for their elegant Cambridge college wedding. The scheme was softened with a rustic edge introduced through fabrics such as hessian and twine. Laura and her bridesmaids carried pure white bouquets which contrasted against the bridesmaids’ black dresses. Laura went for a bigger and blousier flower which set off her fitted fishtail dress to perfection.

To achieve this look Katie recommends:
White Hydrangeas
Gypsophilia (Bridesmaids)
Romantic and nostalgic roses for a chic French wedding
CJ and Tom‘s relaxed family wedding in France featured soft green and pink hues which compliment each other beautifully. The silvery foliage in CJ’s bouquet blended beautifully with the pastel tones of the roses and the muted colours of the hydrangea. Overall it gives the impression of a faded photograph or a well-worn vintage fabric. The combination induces feelings of nostalgia and happy contemplation.

To achieve this look Katie recommends:
Memory Lane & Quicksand Roses
Antique Hydrangeas
Cream freesias
Eucalyptus
Natural and informal wildflowers for a vibrant and quirky family wedding
Ross and Lisa‘s afternoon tea wedding was a feast of colour and excitement. These pretty table decorations are all about texture and colour with tiny feathery flowers and foliage providing a feminine softness to the galvanised metal. The flowers appear natural and wild as if they had self seeded in meadow. There is a lovely natural height to the arrangements making good use of the longer stems of flowers.

To achieve this look Katie recommends:
Stocks
Iris
Purple & pink Veronicas
Blue Statice
Golden Solidago
Freesias
Daisies
Pink and white Gyspsophilia
Mountains of flowers for a very vintage marquee wedding
Jess and Dan‘s big and bold floral arrangements helped to create the ‘wow’ in their vintage marquee wedding. Flowers were abundant at every turn and the coordinated colour scheme of peach and pink hues brought sophistication while the trailing foliage added romance and a more relaxed sense to the formal arrangements.

To achieve this look Katie recommends:
Roses
Hydrangeas
Spray roses
Ivy
Lisianthus
Ferns
Queen Anne’s Lace
A bright and colourful bouquet for a personal and intimate celebration
Beth and Scott‘s family-focussed wedding was all about their personalities and their favourite things. Beth’s bouquet is as bright and bubbly as she is with bold pops of deep colour and a beautiful range of shapes and sizes of flowers. I love the dark pinks and purples offset by the yellows and whites. This bouquet screams fun!

Romantic and feminine roses for a romantic and feminine barn wedding

Kelly and Mike’s rustic barn venue is married beautifully with a soft feminine palette of blush tones. Kelly’s bouquet is dominated by a single type of rose in a delicate pink which is so feminine and romantic in it’s simplicity. To achieve this look Katie recommends:
Pale pink roses
Gypsophilia
Eucalyptus
I feel very lucky to have worked with so many talented people so far on Bicycle Made for Two. I have had quite an extended period of absence so far this month but I promise there are more exciting things to come. Thankyou to everyone who has featured on this site already and do please keep spreading the word. Without all of you wonderful suppliers, photographers and brides I wouldn’t have anything to write about and I really have enjoyed it so far. From the bottom of my heart thankyou and enjoy!
Kirsty xx
