We have the most beautiful and romantic wedding to share with you today from photographer Hannah Duffy of Wedding Belles. Bride Kelly described her style as “quite rustic and laid back”. They married at Waterbeach St Johns Church and followed the service with a reception at Childerley Long Barn. “We didn’t want anything too formal. We wanted guests to feel comfortable, for children to be able to be themselves rather than having to be on best behaviour. Our venue offered us that and we felt so comfortable there. It was perfect.” Well, that sounds pretty perfect to me too!
Kelly’s bridesmaids were three of her closest girls: “My beautiful cousin Amy, home friend Holly and my Maid of Honour [was] University friend Emilia. They were amazing and supported me in picking dresses, making invites, decorating the venue and threw me a brilliant hen do. My MOH also did a brilliant speech at the wedding.”
Kelly also had two beautiful flower girls, her niece Evie and her cousin’s daughter Emilia.
Kelly had a lot of praise for her suppliers, whom she found online or through recommendations from friends. “Mike found our photographer Hannah; we loved her photos and upon meeting her we hit it off straight away and she really understood what we wanted from our wedding photography.
It was so exciting to get back from our honeymoon and then relive the day through the photos. They were amazing! I still occasionally go through them all. Hannah was brilliant and her photography style was exactly what we were looking for.”
Petals & Pearls provided the flowers and Kelly found her (second) dress at Bride All. “I visited a lot of wedding dress shops and felt the most understood at Bride All, they really listened to what I was looking for and I feel gave great advice. They also had a great range to try.”
Mike proposed to Kelly in Reykjavik, Iceland. “It was our anniversary when we were there so we had each organised something nice to do. I took us to the Blue Lagoon spa, which was incredible, but he had booked a private driver to take us on a tour of the Golden Circle.”
“During the tour we visited a secluded waterfall and as I was taking it all in Mike got down on one knee! It was incredibly romantic. Waiting for us in our huge truck was a bottle of champers and we spent the rest of the day being driven around glaciers, through rivers and over mountains. It was amazing!”

Kelly and Mike opted for a religious service at their local church in Waterbeach. “The ceremony at church was so special. Walking into the church and seeing everyone, then seeing Mike – I wish I could do that again to really take it in.”
“One moment that is so clear in my head is after we had signed the register we waited to walk down the aisle as husband and wife and our organist played Sigur Ros – Hoppipolla. I remember turning to Mike and saying that it sounded amazing then looking at all of our family and friends smiling at us. That was a real goosebump moment!”
Kelly’s vision for the day really shows through her attention to her guests and all the thoughtful finishing touches: “I was big on details. So we made the stationary, I had flipflops for the girls on the dancefloor, blankets for the evening, goody bags for the children, a cake table with cakes by the wedding party… Seeing all of that come together was really rewarding.”

“There will be a lot of opinions being thrown around but it is your wedding day – do it your way,” advises Kelly. “Also make sure you’re happy with your suppliers. You’ll be relying on them to make your day perfect, get to know them and make sure you click.”
“We were very true to what we wanted and it really was the most incredible day.” There is only one thing Kelly would have done differently: “Start a bit earlier as it all went far too quickly!”
Well they do say time flies when you are having fun! We think Kelly and Mike’s wedding day certainly looks like it was a lot of fun. I love to read the glowing recommendations that brides send us about their suppliers and Kelly’s recount of her day was full of these – too many to include! I think Kelly and Mike were really savvy with their wedding planning because they made sure they were supported by the most amazing team of suppliers. Congratulations on your beautiful day and we wish you a very happy life together.
Kirsty xx
